Nuristan, Kunar forest fires put out, says official

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Natural Disaster Management on Sunday said forest fires in eastern Nuristan and Kunar provinces have been extinguished.

The fire erupted in Sham Dara forest in the Nurgram district of Nuristan six days ago. On Saturday, the blaze spread to parts of neighbouring Kunar province.

Maulvi Sharafuddin Muslim, deputy minister, said in a voice message that the fire erupted in forests of the Nurgram district of Nuristan and then spread to Chapa Dara and Shegal districts of Kunar.

Without going into details, Muslim said the blaze was put out with the cooperation of local officials.
