KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ariana Afghan Airlines (AAA) has purchased a Boeing passenger plane and would soon add three more aircraft to its fleet, an official said on Tuesday.
AAA Director Rahmatullah Agha told Pajhwok Afghan News that 95 percent of aircraft purchase-related works had been done while only bank guarantees remained.
After a bank guarantee, the plane would be flown to Sharjah or Dubai. He did not provide more detail but added the aircraft could carry 110 passengers.
According to AAA director, they planned to purchase two more passenger planes with the capacity of carrying 380 passengers each and one cargo aircraft with the capacity to carry up to 40 tonnes of load.
According to him, the procurement process for the aircraft will begin next Thursday.
Officials at Ariana Airlines told the media that they have set aside more than 40 million for the purchase of the four aircraft.
