4,010 Afghans return, deported from Iran: MoRR

KABUL (Pajhwok): Some 2,070 Afghan refugees returned from Iran voluntarily while another 1,938 expelled from the neighboring country in recent days, the Ministry of Refugee and Repatriation (MoRR) said on Tuesday.

The deportation and repatriation of Afghans from Iran happened from July 28 till 31.

The ministry on Monday said 1,267 Afghan migrants entered Afghanistan via Islam Qala port. Out of them, 19 families --- 366 persons --- were deported by Iranian officials while 56 families --- 901 persons --- returned on their own will.

The ministry said 2,743 migrants returned to Afghanistan from Iran via Maleek border crossing.

Sixty-seven returning families have been referred to the International Organization of Migration for assistance.
