KABUL (Pajhwok): Spin Ghar defeated Bost Defenders by six runs in an action-packed final to clinch the Shpageeza Cricket League title in Kabul on Thursday.
The eighth edition of the Shpageeza Cricket League (SCL), featuring eight franchises, kicked off on July 17 and the final was played today between Spin Ghar and Bost Defenders.
In the final match, Spin Ghar won the toss and chose to bat first. They made 188 runs in the stipulated 20 overs for the loss of four wickets.
For the winners, Usman Ghani top-scored with 69. Najibullah contributed 45 runs to his side and Abid Mohammad 29 and Tamim 21.
For the Bost Defenders, Ziaur Rahman took two wickets, Fazli Haq and Mohammad Salim got one scalp apiece.
The Bost Defenders finished just six runs short of the target, 182 for six. The Spin Ghar came under huge pressure when Hashmatullah Shahidi shone with the bat and scored 90 runs.
Abdul Rahman Rahmani contributed 31 valuable runs to his side.
For Spin Ghar, Ibrahim and Izharul Haq shared two wickets each and Sharfuddin Ashrat bagged one wicket.
It is for the third time that Spin Ghar are winning the title. The seventh edition of the tournament was won by Kabul Eagles.
