ZARANJ (Pajhwok): A group of women has provided employment to hundreds of other women through online marketing in northwestern Nimroz province.

Farishta Gheljayee, founder of the online business network, in an interview told Pajhwok Afghan News many women who were responsible to support their families lost their jobs last year, so she created a sustainable employment for women.

“I was introduced to a company that manufactures health and cosmetic products in Iran through one of my friends and the Iranian women who worked in the company taught me about the benefits of online business and network marketing until I started my business,” she explained.

According to her, cosmetic and health products were purchased online from the Iranian company and transported by cars to this side of the border and delivered by her husband to other women who work with her.

She added: “In the first stage, I started my work with an amount of 10,000 afghanis and soon I hired 30 women into this online business as a sub-category, and each of them currently has 30 to 60 other women.”

Based on her information, about 20 percent benefit goes to the production company and 50 percent to women because most of the users and sellers are women.

She added with the efforts of women the business also grew outside Nimroz and the products were sent to Paktia, Herat, Farah, Panjsher, Kabul, Badakhshan, Kandahar and Maidan Wardak provinces, engaging about 1,500 women.

According to her, this business has flourished country-wide and women can have sales worth 25,000 afghanis and gain 15,000 afghanis profit.

Muzhgan Azimi, a makeup artist and one of the women who recently entered the business, said: “Although I’m busy with my profession, this job earns me a lot of income, and customers do not go to the market to buy cosmetic products.”

Meanwhile, Najibullah Khasrodi, executive director of chamber of commerce, said that recently women were able to start small and large businesses with various methods.

He added they had the plan to support women in trade to provide better conditions for their business.

Khashrodi said: “We are happy that women do business in Nimroz with modern methods.”
