KABUL (Pajhwok): More than 50 Afghan children suffering from heart disease, burns and orthopedic problems were sent on Wednesday to Germany for medical treatment
Afghan Red Crescent Society (ARCS) says the 54 children sent to Germany would be treated at a cost of $2 million, to be paid by a German organisation called Peace Village International.
ARCS President Maulvi Matiul Haq Khalis said: “So far, the German organisation has treated more than 4,000 children and we hope it will continue to do so in the future.”
ARCS said 68 other children sent previously sent to Germany for treatment would return soon to the country.
Claudia Peppmuller, speaking for Peace Village International, said: “We should take in more children, but our problem is that the clinic in Germany does not have the capacity nor the money to treat a lot of children.”
