Indonesia, Qatar to co-host conference on Afghan women

ATLANTA (Pajhwok): An international conference to garner global support for Afghan women’s access to education is being held in Indonesia, the US Department of State says.

In a statement, the US Department of State said: “Special Envoy for Afghan Women, Girls, and Human Rights Rina Amiri will travel to Indonesia, Switzerland, and Turkey December 5-16.”

Amiri would participate in the international conference for Afghan women’s education co-hosted by the governments of Indonesia and Qatar to support Afghan women and girls’ access to education.

Special Envoy Amiri will also consult with bilateral and multilateral partners, UN representatives, and Afghans, including women and civil society leaders, regarding the current human rights situation in Afghanistan, the statement says.
