Some Kunduz disabled persons want their pensions paid

KUNDUZ CITY (Pajhwok): Some disabled people in northern Kunduz province have not received their pensions due to which they are suffering financially.

They said unstable economic situation forced them to beg in Kunduz City.

Officials of the Martyrs and Disabled Department in Kunduuz said of the 3,500 disabled persons the 6-month salary of 1,800 persons had been paid.

Ayub Shah, one of the disabled persons who lost his legs 24 years ago, said he has to beg in the city in order to support himself and his family financially.

“In the previous government, I received pension, but now I don't get any money, we don't get anything, we have to find a few Afghani here, I lost my legs, I have to collect a few rupees here,” he said.

Ajmal, another disabled person who lost his leg to a landmine blast, said: “I was told to get electronic ID card, my papers had been processed but did not receive my pension. I went to the bank, all disabled person got their salaries but I couldn’t.”

Shafiqullah Ibrahimkhel, Kunduz Martyres and Disabled Department Director, said that 3,550 disabled person are registered in Kunduz out of which 1,800 disabled that included, disabled security personnel from the past government, the Islamic Emirate Personnel and civilians, had received their pensions for the first six months of the ongoing year.

“Disabled people who go around the city and complain are their own business, but here they are registered with us, they are paid a living wage, and also this class of disabled people are registered and biometric by the beggar collection commission, which in addition to their disability rights, the rights that It is considered for begging, they also receive,” he added.
