PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Afghanistan and Pakistan have inked a draft convention for the avoidance of double taxation, addressing a complaint frequently raised by businesspeople from both countries.
Delegations from Afghanistan met and Pakistan met at the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) House in Islamabad from Feb 1 to Feb 3 for the third round of talks on the Convention.
Revenue Legal Services Director Nida Muhammad Seddiqi led the visiting The Afghan delegation. Sajidullah Siddiqui, a senior FBR official, headed the Pakistan side.
The negotiators deliberated in detail on outstanding issues identified during the second round of negotiations in Islamabad from December 27-30, 2021, FBR said in a statement.
Both sides presented their respective viewpoints in a cordial atmosphere. After discussions, they agreed on a consensus draft convention for the avoidance of double taxation.
The draft was signed by the delegation heads, with FBR Chairman Asim Ahmad hoping the convention would strengthen economic relations between the two neighbours.
