KABUL (Pajhwok): Forty Afghans from five different families have been freed from a jail in Pakistan’s Sindh province, the government announced on Tuesday.
As a result of efforts by the Afghanistan Embassy in Islamabad, a Karachi court ordered the release of the Afghan nationals, the Ministry of Refugee and Repatriation Affairs said.
The freed Afghans would be deported to the country via Spin Boldak in southern Kandahar province, a statement from the ministry said
It hoped 160 more Afghans would be freed soon from prisons in the same province.
Last month, hundreds of Afghans were released from Pakistani prisons before being deported to the country. They had been held for staying illegally in Pakistan.
