Pakistan hails normalisation of Saudi-Iranian ties

KABUL (Pajhwok): Pakistan has welcomed the normalisation of diplomatic relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Iran, facilitated by China.

The Pakistan embassy in Kabul said Islamabad firmly believed the important diplomatic breakthrough would contribute to peace and stability in the region and beyond.

A statement from the embassy said: “We commend the role played by China’s visionary leadership in coordinating this historic agreement which reflects the power of constructive engagement and meaningful dialogue.”

It added Pakistan appreciated the sagacious leadership of Saudi Arabia and Iran for the positive development.

Promised to continue to play a constructive role in the Middle East and the region, Pakistan hoped this step would define a template for regional cooperation and harmony.
