KABUL (Pajhwok): The customs duty on essential food items has been slashed by 50 -70 percent this year, says the Ministry of Finance (MoF).
The price cuts are based on the caretaker government’s decision, the ministry said, putting this year’s customs duty reduction at 6.7 million afghanis.
For the first time, the customs duty has been slashed on flour, wheat, cooking oil, rice, sugar and other basic food items.
According to MoF, 100 billion afghanis were collected in customs revenue in 11 months of the current financial year.
