JALALABAD (Pajhwok): At least four children have lost their lives and people suffered huge financial losses due to recent rainfall and flooding in eastern Nangarhar province.
In a statement, the governor’s house said four children were killed in the overnight downpour in the Behsud district of the province.
Sediqullah Qureshi Badloon, director of information and culture, confirmed the ravages resulting from rains and flash floods in different parts of the province. Relevant organs were supplying emergency aid, he said.
Bakhti Jan Murad, spokesman for the municipality, said officials of nine police districts of the city had been directed to urgently provide aid to affected residents.
Azizullah, a resident of Kama district, said flash floods hit Mirzakhel, Bazdikhel and Mamkhel areas on Friday night, inflicting financial losses on people.
He urged immediate assistance to the people whose houses had been destroyed.
