Flour, fuel down & sugar up in Kabul

KABUL (Pajhwok): Prices of flour and fuel fell while rates of sugar and gold surged during the outgoing week in Kabul, market sources say.

A worker at the Ahmadyar Group of Pump Stations said the price of one litre of petrol decreased from 70afs to 69afs and diesel from72afs to 70afs.

Mohammad Sharif, a liquefied gas seller in Kalola Pushta locality, said the rate of one kilogram of the commodity stood stable at 56afs.

Sugar up, flour down

Zmarai Safi, head of the Food Traders Association, told Pajhwok Afghan News the price of a 49-kilogram bag of Indian sugar jumped from 3,500afs to 3,700afs.

He said, as two weeks ago, the price of 24.5 kilograms bag of Pakistani rice stood unchanged at 3,000afs and a 16-liter tin of Malaysian cooking oil at 1,750afs.

By the same token, he recalled, a kilogram of African black tea cost 400afs and the same amount of the Indonesian green tea 350afs.

Hamid Sufizada, a retailer on the Dahna-i-Bagh market, put the retail price of a 49-kilogram bag of Kazakh flour at 1,900afs, a 24-kg bag of Pakistani rice 3,050afs and a 49-kg sack of Indian sugar at 3,550afs.

Gold prices

Mohammad Fawad, a jeweller in Timor Shahi area, said the price of one gram of Arabian gold rose from 4,500afs to 4,650afs and the same amount of the Russian variety from 3,550afs to 3,600afs.

Afghani exchange rate

Haji Hussain, owner of the Sadaqat Money Exchange Service, said one US dollar traded at 87.30afs and 1,000 Pakistani rupees at 303afs.

Two weeks ago, one US dollar accounted for 87.10afs and 1,000 Pakistani rupees for 303afs.
