JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Intelligence operatives have seized a truck trying to smuggle 35 tons of chromite to Pakistan in Torkham town in eastern Nangarhar province.
In a statement, the Nangarhar Information and Culture department said the chromite, a commercially valuable mineral, was being smuggled to Pakistan.
Mohammad Iqbal Takal, director of intelligence in Torkham, said they had recently prevented many smuggling attempts at the dried port.
He added that 35 tons of chromite being smuggled to Pakistan had been prevented.
Takal said the driver of the truck had been detained and he was currently being interrogated.
