Complete half-done projects, aid agencies urged

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MoAIL) says there is no obstacle in the way of international aid organizations and they can complete their half-done projects in Afghanistan.

Acting Minister of Agriculture Maulvi Attaullah Omari met with UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) representative in Afghanistan and Daniel Anders, the deputy of the UN political representative in Afghanistan today, the ministry wrote in its twitter page.

The source said that the two sides discussed the development of agriculture, livestock, water management, and protection of natural resources, help to farmers, control of plant and animal diseases and pests and the distribution of refined seeds for farmers.

Maulvi Omari commended the support and cooperation of the two agencies and urged for continuation of their assistance.

Omari said: "Afghanistan needs to work in the areas of water management and regulation, helping farmers, changing the generation of animals, land management, construction of small dams, forest protection, distribution of seeds and improved trees, modern agriculture training, equipping farmers with machinery.”

He emphasized that there were no hurdle for international aid agencies to complete their projects in the country.

Daniel Anders, an official of UNAMA, called supporting the farmers, working in the climate change sector, helping people in need, introducing farmers to modern agriculture, preventing land degradation, sustainable development, raising the people's economy and sharing the experiences of investors and businessmen from other countries were the basic responsibilities of aid organizations.
