KABUL (Pajhwok): A delegation from the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MoAIL) has departed for Moldova to strengthen agricultural, scientific and research cooperation between the two countries.

In a statement, the ministry said the delegation’s official visit, scheduled from August 2 to 7, would focus on cooperation in plant protection, pest management, agricultural research, commercial orchard management and modern farming technologies.

The delegation includes Deputy Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Mawlawi Sadr Azam Usmani, his adviser Mawlawi Gul Hazrat Hammad and Dr. Mohammad Rafi Bawari, director of Basic and Applied Research at the Afghanistan Agricultural Research Institute.

During the visit, the delegation is expected to meet officials from Moldova’s Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry and hold technical discussions on agricultural research, innovation, modern farming technologies, plant protection and joint scientific programmes.

MoAIL said the visit would help facilitate the exchange of expertise, strengthen Afghanistan’s agricultural research capacity and expand scientific and technical cooperation between the two countries.
