Strict measures in place for Muharram security: Khalid

KABUL (Pajhwok): The governor of Kabul on Saturday said security forces had taken elaborate security measures for Muharram days and Shiite citizens could hold their religious ceremonies in a safe environment.

Muharram starts on July 19 (Wednesday).

In a statement, the governor’s house said Kabul governor Sheikh Mohammad Qasim Khalid met a number of religious scholars and tribal leaders from Shiite community in Kabul in order to assure them of security measures.

Khalid said: “The governor house of Kabul province is responsible for the security during Muharram and I assure Shiite citizens that full security will be provided during Muharram like other special days."

He added security forces had taken strict  measures for foolproof security for Muharram and Shiite citizens could carry out their mourning processions in a safe environment.
