PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): The Pakistan Cricket Board has unveiled the squad for the ACC Asia Cup and the one-day international (ODI) series against Afghanistan.
The 18-player squad will face Afghanistan in Sri Lanka from August 22 to 26 and vie in the the Asia Cup, set to commence at the Multan Cricket Stadium on August 30.
Tayyab Tahir, Faheem Ashraf and Saud Shakeel have been included in the team, which was announced on Wednesday, for the ODI series against Afghanistan.
Shan Masood, with a series of low scores, has ben left out of the line-up. Ihsanullah, currently undergoing a rehabilitation regimen, is also out with an elbow injury.
The squad was unveiled after comprehensive consultations among Chief Selector Inzamam-ul-Haq, Mickey Arthur, Grant Bradburn and Hassan Cheema. Input from skipper Babar Azam was also considered.
“We have given preference to an all-rounder. If you look at the squad, there was no all-rounder. Faheem Ashraf is an all-rounder, whose performances in the HBL PSL and other events offer a proof of his ability.”
