KABUL (Pajhwok): Army Chief Qari Fasihuddin Fitrat has renewed the ‘Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’ (IEA) commitment not to allow Afghanistan’s soil to be used against any other nation and asked Pakistan to focus on its internal security instead of accusing Afghanistan for its failures.
He asked Pakistan to protect its soil and refrain from baseless accusations, adding that IEA will never allow destabilizing activities from its soil.
He said: “Anybody crossing into Pakistan will face Pakistani security forces and it will lead to firefight but we see there is no clash happened on the Durand Line, there maybe people inside Pakistan who are involved in destabilizing activities.”
“This shows their incompetence that they could not protect their soil and arrest individuals who are involved in violence and subversive activities,” he said.
Fitrat assured the nation that IEA was fully capable of thwarting any kind of aggression with full force.
He said: “Nor terrorist group was active in Afghanistan; there are some intelligence agencies agents who conduct attacks by the name of Daesh and shows that Daesh is involved in these attacks.”
“Maybe some Daesh members would be present in Afghanistan but their activities had dropped compared to the last year. In bigger cities their attacks dropped to zero but in remote areas there is threat of attacks.”
Fitrat said last year the number of Afghan Islamic Army was 150,000 but this year the number would be raised to 180,000.
He said as a result of last year operations 8,418 light weapons, 318 heavy weapons, 5,044 motorcycles, 538 other types of equipment, 1,205 kilograms of explosives, 917 hand grenades, 841 landmines, 513 walkie-talkies, 453 binoculars recovered by Afghan security forces.
Fitrat said 63 battalions in 37 camps, 108 bases and 600 check-posts had been furnished with facilities and equipment.
Mawlavi Mohammad Qasim Frasd, deputy policy and strategy head of the Ministry of Defence, said that after regime change 60 aircrafts were flown to other countries which had not been returned so far.
“We asked them to return the aircraft but they are under the “US pressure and did not reply to us.”
He said last year 24,774 officers graduated from the Islamic Military educational institutions.
He said last year nearly 50,000 equipment had been repaired and were now useable.
