Since decades, the main reason behind the bloodshed, disabilities of Afghans and other misfortunes in their lives was conflict that we all see but don’t talk about it. There are some other factors that inflicted more or less harm — casualties and disabilities — comparing to the conflict on public are also ignored, not discussed and still not seriously considered by Afghans. One of these factors is traffic accidents, due to which thousands of Afghans have been killed and injured over the years, according to local and international health and traffic affairs institutions. In the first nine months of the ongoing year, 1,314 traffic accidents recorded in the nine months of ongoing year. 934 people were killed and 2,028 others injured during these accidents. Keeping in mind the past two years casualty figure of the Traffic Department, last year 221 people each month have been killed and injured as a result of traffic accidents while this year 329 people suffered casualties each month. This process of casualties is underway over the years and this time Pajhwok’s viewpoint discussion is on this issue. Former Deputy Transport Minister Dr. Akbar Jan Polad, Former Shakardara District Chief Gawhar Khan Babar, Traffic Department Plan and Policy Director Abdul Wadoud Khairkhwa and Afghanistan Land Transport Companies Council Deputy Head Mohammad Nabi Afghan are participating in this discussion as guests.
