KABUL (Pajhwok): Minister of Energy and Water Mullah Abdul Latif Mansour has inked a contract for six energy projects worth 75 million US dollars with a private company.
The contract was signed on Saturday in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar and other officials at the government media centre here.
The projects include completion of the 500kv transmission line from Dasht Khwaja Alwan to Kabul, Arghandi substation, construction of a new substation in Tarakhel area, implementation of the 220kv transmission line from the Chemtal substation to Tarakhel, expansion of Arghandi substation and building a new substation in Batkhat area.
The ministry said with implementation of the projects 1,000 megawatts of electricity will be imported from Turkmenistan to overcome electricity shortage in Kabul and neighboring provinces.
While signing the contract, the acting minister said implementation of the projects would prove useful in better energy supply.
He reaffirmed MoEW’s commitment to implementing more projects in the water and energy sector in the future.
