TORONTO (Pajhwok): A newly established ‘Afghan Cultural and Social Association’ has commenced its operations in Toronto to cultivate an understanding of Afghan cultural, social and educational relations both within Canada and internationally.
With aspirations to extend its reach, the association named in honor of Sayed Nadir Shah Al-Hussaini Kayani plans to open branches worldwide, aiming to provide cultural and social services to Afghan immigrants globally, the association said in a statement on Monday.
The association dedicates itself to preservation and promotion of Afghan culture and social values and intends to introduce and celebrate the diverse cultural and social customs of various Afghan communities
“This effort will foster social pluralism and mutual respect among different groups, thus enriching the Canadian multicultural landscape,” the statement said.
Emphasizing the critical role of education in contemporary times, the association acknowledges the educational service gap that exists for Afghan children and youth.
It supports universal education and is committed to enhancing educational services both within Afghanistan and in the diaspora, aiming to make a positive impact on the future generation.
The association is also poised to contribute to the literary and cultural richness through its online presence, which includes a website, a YouTube channel, and social media platforms. These channels will serve as a conduit for publishing articles on social, cultural, and literary topics, furthering the intellectual and artistic discourse among Afghan writers, researchers, and cultural figures.
The association invited collaboration with media outlets, other cultural and literary associations, and individuals. Through inter-media and inter-association dialogue and cooperation, the association seeks to benefit the Afghan people, both at home and abroad.
Under the banner of "Dialogue and Cooperation for the Expansion of Tolerance and Understanding," the association envisions a world where diverse Afghan communities can live peacefully and cohesively, contributing to the broader narrative of harmony and inclusivity in society.
