Development without knowledge impossible, says Stanikzai

KABUL (Pajhwok): Deputy Foreign Minister Sher Mohammad Abbas Stanikzai says the closure of gates of educational centers has widened the distance between the people and the government, adding development is not possible without education.

Stanikzai was addressing the graduation ceremony of about 450 students from educational centres (Bayazid Roshan Institute, Rahman Baba, Khoshal Khan and Pir Mohammad Kakar High Schools) of the Ministry of Borders and Tribal Affairs.

“We call on the officials to open the gates of knowledge to the children of our country. Any country that closes the doors of education will be invaded and will face starvation,” he grumbled.

He said if some people oppose education in the country due to their personal desires and reasons, then it was a betrayal of the children of the country.

He added the only problem the Islamic Emirate had with the world and its neighbors was the closure of the gates of education and it had alienated the people.

According to Stanikzai, when there is gap between the nation and the government, then the survival of the government is not possible and foreigners will also interfere.

He added a society without knowledge was “blind” and no development was possible without education.

Mullah Noorullah Noori, acting minister of borders and tribal affairs, said that lessons should be learned from the history and experience of past.

He said there was no distance and anyone thinking so must have been misguided by the propaganda of foreign intelligence and foreigners. He added that there was no minority in Islam and everyone’s right would be given.

Dr Lotfullah Khairkhwa, deputy minister of higher education, said if knowledge was not nurtured in its own right and if it was not loved madly, then it was “injustice” with knowledge.

He said: “You and I are facing an unjust and cruel world because they call it truth what they want and have closed their eyes to the truth”.

National activist and political analyst Hamidullah Hotak said that the country needed more development and unity.
