JALALABAD (Pajhwok): At least four minor daughters of an education official for Hesarak district have been killed in a hand grenade attack.
Unidentified people lobbed a hand grenade into the official’s house, Nangarhar Education Department spokesman said on Monday.
Farhad Stanikzai told Pajhwok Afghan News the hand grenade was thrown into the house of district education chief Maulvi Ghulam Jilani Hanafi last night.
As a result result of the grenade blast, Hanafi’s four daughters were killed, Stanikzai said.
Another source revealed Hanafi and his wife were also injured in the incident but the Education Department spokesperson had no information regarding injuries to anyone.
Stanikzai said: “Maulvi Hanafi talked to me this morning. He was not normal but I could not ask him if he or others sustained injuries in the incident.”
Meanwhile, the Information and Culture Department also confirmed the death of Hanafi’s daughters.
A grenade had earlier been lobbed into the house of the Hesarak education chief, but that attack had caused no casualties.
