QALA-I-NAW (Pajhwok): Traders and investors in western Badghis province say the price of each kilowatt of commercial electricity in the province is five afghanis higher than its rate in other provinces.
They say they pay seventeen afghanis per kilowatt which is five afghanis higher compared to other provinces.
Mohammad Asil, an investor, told Pajhwok Afghan News the tariff of commercial electricity was higher in Badghis compared other provinces and asked the government to reduce it.
He said: “Commercial electricity price in Badghis is 17 afghanis per kilowatt while it is 12 afghanis in Herat and other provinces.”
He asked the government to set equal prices for electricity in all provinces.
At the same time, Wahid Ahmad, a trader in Qala-i-Naw city, also complained against high price of commercial electricity and added: “Unfortunately, the price of commercial electricity is very high, now our trade and sales have also decreased and we want the government to reduce it.”
Meanwhile, Da Baresha Shirkat officials also admit commercial electricity prices are high in this province compared to other provinces.
Khairullah Khairkhah, Badghis Baresha Shirkat director, told Pajhwok the prices had been fixed in the previous government and they did not know why the price of commercial electricity was high in the province than other provinces.
He said they had shared the problem with Da Afghanistan Baresha Shirkat in capital Kabul and they would reduce it.
