Land distribution to repatriates will start in spring: Minister

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Land distribution for houses and cultivation to deportees from Pakistan will kick off in spring, Minister of Refugees and Repatriation Khalil Ur Rahman Haqqani says.

According to a statement from Nangarhar’s Information and Culture Department,  the minister held out the promise during his trip to the Torkham refugee camp on Friday.

Haqqani was also accompanied by Border and Tribal Affairs Minister Maulvi Noorullah Noori and other officials.

The government was taking practical steps to resolve the deportees’ problems, including land distribution for housing and cultivation, Haqqani said.

Minister for Border and Tribal Affairs Noorullah Noori said the foreign policy of Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) was focused on forging cordial relations with all neighbours.

The government of Pakistan announced a crackdown on undocumented migrants about four months ago. More than 500,000 Afghan migrants had since been forcibly sent back to their home country via Torkham and Spin Boldak.
