Religious, modern education key to progress: Nadeem

KABUL (Pajhwok): The acting minister of higher education says every society needs experts in religious studies and modern sciences to evolve and progress.

Neda Mohammad Nadeem made the remarks at a graduation ceremony from a two-year fatwa and jurisdiction course at the Abdullah bin Massoud religious study centre.

The graduation ceremony was also attended by several high-ranking officials, who stressed the need for producing experts in the field of judiciary and justice.

Nadeem said every society needed experts in all fields, including the judiciary and fatwa departments, to evolve and progress.

Abdul Salam Hanafi, deputy prime minister in administrative affairs, asked the new graduates to treat people according to Islamic ethics and compassion.

Noor Mohammad Saqib, acting minister of hajj and religious affairs, said there was an urgent need for fatwa and jurisdiction expertise in Afghanistan, where an Islamic set-up was at the helm.

Enayat-ul-Rahman and Saif-ul-Rahman, two of the graduates, were happy over receiving education in these fields and asked the government to provide them with responsibilities as soon as possible.
