43,000 mt of citrus fruit produced this year: MoAIL

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Agriculture, irrigation and Livestock (MoAIL) says around 43,000 metric tonnes of citrus fruit was produced this year in the country.

The ministry wrote on its X handle that based on information from its statistics section, the country produced nearly 43,000 metric tonnes of citrus fruits (kinno, tangerine, orange and lemon).

It added that this year, citrus fruit orchards were created on 1,054 hectares of land, yielding 12,361 metric tonnes of tangerine, mostly in Nangarhar, Laghman and Kunar provinces.

The ministry said 22,908 metric tonnes of oranges were produced this year, mostly in Nangarhar, Laghman, Kunar and Uruzgan provinces.

According to the ministry, the lemon harvest reached 7,725 metric tonnes and most of its orchard were in Nangarhar, Laghman, Kunar, Uruzgan, Takhar and Kunduz.
