PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): Over 12,000 persons in central Logar province will be provided literacy courses in the beginning of next solar year with the support of UNESCO, an official said on Monday.
Logar Education Department Spokesperson Shapour Arab told Pajhwok Afghan News this programme will start in Pul-i-Alam, the provincial capital and all districts which will continue for nine months.
Arab said: “This literacy programme start with the financial support of UNESCO after one month in which 1,260 illiterate men and women would be provided 84 classes.”
He said interest for the literacy classes in Pul-i-Alam and districts had increased.
He said efforts were underway to open tens of other literacy classes in cooperation with some NGOs.
Mohammad Ajmal, a local resident, told Pajhwok Afghan News that literacy classes were very important in which illiterate people get an opportunity to learn something.
It is pertinent to mention that last year also UNESO arranged nine months literacy classes for 14,000 men and women in Logar province.
