MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): The second round of K-1 (Kickboxing) competitions has been held in Mazar-i-Shahif, the capital city of northern Balkh province, an official said Saturday.
Sakhi Feroz, head of the provincial Kickboxing Federation, said the competitions had been held on Thursday night in which three Pakistani players and 25 Afghan players took part.
Feroz said promoting sport; encouraging youth to part in sport events and improving their skills were the main purpose of these games.
“28 players, including three Pakistanis, took part in the second round of K-1 competitions, our purpose is to promote this game and encourage players,” he said.
Hayatullah, one of the Pakistani players, said: “We are very happy to have participated in these games, Afghan players are strong and we want more interaction and visits between players.”
Meanwhile, some Afghan players said they have good skills and abilities and if chances in the international competitions are provided to them they will earn pride for Afghanistan.
According to the federation players from Tajikistan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan will be invited for the future rounds of these competitions.
