Ghazni mine explosion leaves 9 children dead

GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): Nine children have been killed as a result of an old mine explosion in the Giro district of southern Ghazni province, an official said on Monday.

Information and Culture Director Maulvi Mansour Afghan told Pajhwok Afghan News the war-era mine exploded as children played in the Zadran village of the district on Sunday afternoon.

He said the nine victims included five girls and four boys, aged between six and 10 years.
