KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): Security forces have seized dozens of weapons and arrested 23 people for illegally possessing them in southeastern Khost province, an official said on Sunday.
Counter-terrorism department head Maulavi Mohammad Rasoul Watanmal told Pajhwok Afghan News the weapons had been seized in the city and districts during last two months.
He said the weapons included 14 Kalashnikovs, five pistols, one rocket, a pika, 12 pressure mines, 7 hand grenades, a demining robot and thousands of Kalashnikov and rocket bullets.
Watanmal informed the 23 men arrested in connection with the illegal weapons had been produced before judges.
He said no terrorist incident had occurred so far in the province due to good coordination between police and residents. He asked people to hand over their illegal weapons to security forces.
