PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): The Department of Commerce and Industry has closed down four companies for producing low-quality products in central Logar province.
Director of Commerce and Industry Maulvi Shabbir Ahmad Sediqi told Pajhwok Afghan News they launched monitoring of food and non-food companies after frequent complaints from people.
Sediqi said: “This monitoring committee under the aegis of our department has monitored 26 manufacturing companies so far.
“Four of them, which did not meet the required standards, have been closed,” the director said, adding the committee had also seized 200 cartons of soap and shampoo of inferior quality.
Javed, the manager of a crisp production company, told Pajhwok he was happy that the government had started monitoring private firms.
He alleged there were unregistered companies providing low-quality goods to the market on a daily basis.
Samsour Stanikzai, a resident of Pul-i-Alam, told Pajhwok the companies violating the rules and failing to meet standards should be punished.
He suggested manufacturing companies should be continuously monitored to stop them supplying poor-quality products to the market.
