Online attendance system unveiled at 10 edu centres

KABUL (Pajhwok): With the help of a domestic company, the Ministry of Borders and Tribal Affairs (MoBTA) has equipped 10 education centres with an online attendance system.

The system tracking teacher and student attendance was unveiled yesterday (Monday) at a ceremony in Kabul, attended by a number of the MoBTA officials and Afghan Zaland Company representatives.

Afghan Zaland Company head Inamul Haq Ihsas said the system could store the personal data of teachers and students of all the ten educational centres in six provinces of the country.

The system is also capable of preserving the record of students’ marks. The firm will be responsible for running the system for a year.

MoBTA officials expressed their satisfaction with the arrangement, calling for unity and protection of the rights of all tribes of Afghanistan.

Jirga and tribal affairs chief Maulvi Mohammad Ali Jan Ahmad stressed the need for unity and harmony among ethnic groups. There was no place for ethnic prejudice in the current government, he explained.

Thanking the Afghan Zaland Company for creating the online attendance system, Ahmad urged other institutions as well to be cooperative with IEA in addressing such issues.

Referring to the deprivation of tribes of their rights in the past, the head of the technology department at the ministry, Abdul Matin Rahimzai said all tribes enjoyed full rights. “There is no minority or majority in the country, where all people have equal rights.”

A number of students also expressed their pleasure over the system, hoping it would prove effective in enforcing discipline.

Mohammad Amin one of the students, said the system would force them to attend classes on time and strengthen order.

Jawad, another student had similar idea, suggesting the installation of similar systems at all of education centres.

According to figures from the ministry,  there are about 6,000 students enrolled at the 10 educational institutes.
