KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): Some students of the university in southern Kandahar province say most of the problems they earlier faced have been solved, except the lack of dormitory and a sports stadium on the campus.

Students hailing from other provinces complain they are facing many problems in the absence of hostel facility and it is difficult for them to live in rented rooms outside the university building.

Mohammad, a student, said: “Problems like shortage of teachers and things related to our studies have been mostly resolve, but the lack of a dormitory remains.”

Qayem Shah Rashidi, another student, said: “We don’t have a dormitory in the university, so we live in a rented house, if the problem of hostel within the university is solved, it will be great.”

Meanwhile, some other students said there was no sports stadium on the camous and and they had to go outside for games and entertainment.

Sanaullah Mayar, a student, said: “Reconstruction works have been done and are still continuing in the university. Similarly, our practical and academic works have increased, but we do not have a stadium for cricket or football within the university to do exercise or play games. We have to go outside and it is difficult.”

Kandahar University chancellor Maulvi Abdul Rahman Tayb, said in addition to reconstruction works, many other issues concerning the teaching process and others had been addressed.

“We have no shortage of teachers, we have qualified professors, reconstruction works have been done in the university and are still underway, our practical efforts have good effect on students learning.”

About the dormitory, he said a six-storey building, which was 95 0ercent complete, had been allocated for hostel having the capacity to accommodate 800 students.
