KABUL (Pajhwok): On the eve of Eid-ul-Adha, a number of poor people say they are happy they will cook meat for their children, a good opportunity offered by the religious festival.
Religious scholars say Eid al-Adha is one of the great Muslim holidays and the Qurbani and distribution of meat to relatives and the poor sows the seeds of love and friendship in hearts.
Do not forget poor people when distributing meat
Gul Dasta, a 30-year-old resident of Kabul, works in people’s houses due to economic hardships and supports her family of six.
She said: “I have to work, my husband is paralyzed, I cannot afford to purchase meat and only prepare ordinary meals. We only eat meat on Eid-ul-Adha when nighbours provide in charity.”
Having no preparations for Eid, she added: “I’m very happy I will cook meat for my children.”
Meanwhile, Mohammad Akram, a resident of Shiberghan City, says: “I am a retired person, we don’t have enough to eat, our children live in old clothes, we are poor, I only cook meat for my children on Eid al-Adha”.
Suffering from economic problems, he said: “Thankfully, there is peace in our country, but I wish our pensions are paid. Our request from the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan is to pay our pensions.”
Also, Mohammad Musa, a resident of Badghis, said: “I cannot afford to slughter a sacrificial animal because I don’t have money, but since it is Eid, my neighbors who are kind to me and bring meat.”
Other poor individuals asked the faithful to help them during Eid days.
Religious scholars: Qurbani meat be divided into 3 parts.
Maulvi Mohammad Hasan Haqyar, a religious scholar, told Pajhwok that the distribution of meat on Eid al-Adha among relatives and the poor sowed the seeds of love and friendship in the hearts of faithful.
He added: “Qurbani is obligatory in Sharia, and it means slaughtering a special animal on special days, including Eid al-Adha, with the intention of reward.”
He said conditions for giving Qurbani included the person must be a Muslim, a resident, and have a property.
