KABUL (Pajhwok): The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) has Nicaragua for appointing its ambassador to Afghanistan in Beijing.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) of the IEA has agreed and welcomes the appointment of a non-permanent ambassador for Afghanistan in Beijing by the Republic of Nicaragua,” the MoFA said in a statement.
It said the MoFA has directed the Afghan embassy in Beijing to have close diplomatic ties with the Nicaragua embassy in the Chinese capital.
The ministry declared the establishment of diplomatic relation with Nicaragua a positive development.
Nicaragua has named Mishael Campbell as its ambassador to Afghanistan, AFP reported.
“We thank the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, that people, that government, for the blessing they have given to our comrade Campbell,” Nicaraguan Vice President Rosario Murillo said.
Earlier, China, Iran and Pakistan had also appointed ambassadors to Afghanistan without recongnising the interim government in Kabul.
