KABUL (Pajhwok): The dengue mosquitoes multiply in containers filled with water inside and outside the house and people should prevent dengue fever by keeping water containers, pools and streams clean, the World Health Organization (WHO) said on Saturday.
What is dengue fever, how does it spread and what are its symptoms?
Dengue fever is a viral disease and is transmitted via mosquitoes to humans. This disease is known as bone-breaking fever. High fever, severe muscle and joint pains, headache, skin rash and vomiting are symptoms.
WHO wrote on its Facebook page titled “Reduce the risk of dengue” and said: “Dengue mosquitoes multiply in containers filled with water inside and outside the house”.
“Garbage the usage bottles, boxes and others things, every week clean and wash the containers, cover water tanks and containers that are not in use and protect them from pooling,” the organization said.
It recommended cleaning streams, water ribs and watersides and changing the water in pots.
In a message, WHO said: “Even the cap of a bottle can have enough water for mosquitoes to multiply”.
