KABUL (Pajhwok): An Afghan delegation, led by Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Mullah Hamdullah Akhundzada, has attended a meeting on the North-South Transit and Trade Corridor route in Kazakhstan.
The objective behind the meeting was to connect Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Afghanistan, the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation wrote on X.
By 2027, the capacity of the eastern branch of the North-South International Transport Corridor is planned to be increased to 10 million tonnes per year, Kazinform International News agency reported.
The 1st North-South International Transport Corridor meeting is ongoing in Aktau from July 19 to 20, 2024, bringing together over 440 participants from 12 countries.
Representatives from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Afghanistan, Russia, Belarus, Turkmenistan, the UAE, Iran, Iraq, Oman, Uzbekistan, as well as Economic Cooperation Organisation and Eurasian Economic Commission are in attendance.
