KABUL (Pajhwok): Atal Khan from Kabul province has secured the first position in this year’s university entry test, the National Examination Authority (NEA) announced late on Sunday.

By the same token, the authority said, Zainullah Yousafi won the first spot in seminary entry test.

NEA announced the 2024 university entrance exam (Kankor) results at the government media centre in Kabul.

It said Atal Khan topped the test, Syed Hamid Hashmi finished second and Shafiullah Nizami came third.

Ershad Ahmad from eastern Laghman province and Safiullah from western Herat bagged fourth and fifth positions respectively.

By obtaining 359.61 marks, Atal found his way to the Medical Faculty of the Kabul University, NEA said.

Syed Hamid Hashmi from northern Balkh province got 357.71 marks. Shafiullah Nizami, who hails from western Farah province, secured 367.25 marks.

Zainullah Yousafi, from Kabul, secured the first position in this year’s seminary entry test with 315 marks.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Prime Minister for Administrative Affairs Maulvi Abdul Salam Hanafi said those who had studied hard last year had shown good results today.

He added: “Those who haven’t done well should not feel disappointed; they should better prepare for next year’s entry test.”

Acting Minister of Higher Education Sheikh Neda Mohammad Nadeem said the number of successful students was higher this year.

He assured the successful candidates of all necessary facilities at the universities in which they had been granted admissions.

This year’s university examination was conducted in five phases, featuring 10,000 students from different parts of the country.
