KABUL (Pajhwok): A Chinese businessman has expressed his interest in investing about $40 million in solar panel production and installation in Afghanistan.
The Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MoIC) wrote on X Deputy Minister Maulvi Ahmadullah Zahid met Shea, a Chinese businessman.
During the meeting, Shea evinced an interest in investing in the production and installation of solar power in accordance with Afghanistan’s needs.
Shea said: “We want to establish a solar panel production and installation firm with an investment of about $40 million and create jobs for 1,000 people of this country.”
He asked the deputy minister for cooperation in this regard, according to the MoIC statement.
Zahid also talked about the importance of clean solar energy and underlined the need for investment in this sector to reduce the impact of climate change in the country.
He said the leadership of the ministry was committed to cooperation on attracting investments in the growth and development of industries.
