KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has dismissed as false and baseless claims making rounds on social media about the installation of an anti-drone system at Bagram airbase with China’s cooperation.
The MoD emphasized that these assertions lacked credibility and were not based on factual information.
Zawia News published a letter on its Facebook page, which it said to had been sent by the MoD to the Strategic Intelligence Department.
The letter reads: “Since we do not have control over our airspace and our airspace is being occupied. It has been communicated with the Chinses authorities that in the future we will start work on such a system. Professional and talented individuals are needed for the organisation and to provide a cooperative arrangement with the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation.”
Zawia News also claimed China was currently working with the “Taliban” to install an anti-drone system at Bagram Airport.
But Inayatullah Khawarzami, a spokesman for the MoD, wrote on X that these statements were baseless and far from truth.
Khawarzami said installing an “anti-drone system” in Bagram in cooperation from China was a fake news and a letter attributed to this on social media was also baseless.
