KABUL (Pajhwok): The High National Standard Council (HNSC) in its first meeting approved 24 new technical standards and tasked the Afghanistan National Standards Authority (ANSA) to regularly monitor its implementation and submit its report to the council, a statement said on Tuesday.
These standards covered food, construction materials, petroleum, chemicals, plastics, and textiles products, office of the deputy prime minister for economic affairs said in a statement.
Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar chaired the council’s meeting in which he stressed the supply of products and services that could meet national and international standards for regional and global competition.
He said the effective implementation of standards would lead to coordination in production, business development, prevention of additional costs and save the time, besides this, it would lead to the transfer of new technology from developing countries to Afghanistan.
The HNSC was established in compliance to a decree No. 2083 of the Office of the Prime Minister to safeguard health and safety, ensure quality, protect consumers, facilitate trade, create unified rules and standards, and ensure their implementation and environmental protection.
In October 2023, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar said that he would chair the council.
