KABUL (Pajhwok): The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) has issued a new decree, allowing government spokesmen alone to speak on behalf of the interim rulers.
State-run Bakhtar News Agency reported the decree on its X handle on Monday. The decree requires IEA spokespersons to share, communicate, and publish information related to government objectives, policies, activities and achievements.
They are also instructed to refrain from commenting on social and political matters, on which IEA’s position is unclear, and to only release statements provided by the government leadership.
Additionally, the decree restricts spokespersons to communicating information solely related to their respective ministries. They must obtain permission from relevant ministries before publishing any content.
The order prohibits spokespersons from publishing or disclosing information on topics outside their designated responsibilities.
