PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): Reconstruction work has been launched on the 36-kilometre Pul-i-Alam-Gardez road in central Logar province, an official said on Thursday.
Funded by the Ministry of Public Works, the project would take three months to complete, said Mohammad Raza Karimi, an official of the Public Works Department.
He said the exact cost of the project was yet to be known. The road has been damaged by the past conflict and flash floods.
The official hoped traffic accidents on the road would be reduced with execution of the project.
Meanwhile, drivers and passengers are happy over the reconstruction of the busy route.
Roohullah, a driver, told Pajhwok Afghan News drivers and passengers from southeastern Khost, Paktia and Paktika provinces travelled the road.
He voiced optimism: “Our problems will be addressed with the completion of the scheme.”
Khair Mohammad, an inhabitant of Logar, asked the caretaker government to complete work on the second lane of the Kabul-Logar highway.
