TALOQAN (Pajhwok): A disabled girl has been freed from the captivity of her brother in northern Takhar province, says the Ministry for the Propagation of Virtue and Prevention of Vice (MPVPV).
In statement, the ministry said the girl had been locked up by her brother in a cattle shelter in the Zamborak village of Chal district. She had been deprived of all of her rights.
After receiving a complaint about the illegal confinement of the girl, MPVPV ombudsmen raided the house and freed her, the ministry added.
Without going into details, the ministry said the girl had been kept in captivity by her brother for years.
With the case under investigation, the statement said the brother of the girl would be referred to judicial organs.
Earlier, the MPVPV personnel prevented similar incidents in other provinces of the country as well.
