GHAZNI/SARI PUL (Pajhwok): Construction work has been launched on two roads in Ghazni and Sari Pul provinces, officials said Monday.
Ghazni city mayor Maulvi Mohammad Hamza told a meeting in this regard the 600-meter long road was being constructed n Ghaib Qalandar area of Ghazni city.
The road will cost seven million afghanis to be provided by the United Nations Project Services Office.
Hamza added about 100 people found work and the project would be completed within two months.
Ghazni Governor Hafiz Amin Jan Omari told Pajhwok: "We are committed to working for the people so that the people's economy is improved.”
He assured the people that the government would provide them with comprehensive services.
Separately, gravelling work on a 14 kilometers road has been started in central Dai Kundi province.
The road starts from Ladogag junction on the Daikundi-Kandahar highway and reaches Polesto village in Pato district.
Syed Ghazanfar Kazmi, the spokesman for Dai Kundi governor, told Pajhwok that construction of the road would consume 15 million afghanis and would take four months to complete.
He said the road would connect Pato district with Kandahar province and people will be able to travel easily.
Earlier, Daikundi residents had complained about the lack of roads to their areas and had urged the government to pay attention.
