FARAH CITY (Pajhwok): A nine-year-old enmity between two families has been resolved as a result of efforts by tribal elders and officials in western Farah province.
Head of Propagation of virtue and prevention of vice Maulvi Abdul Majid Samim told Pajhwok Afghan News the feud between Maulvi Abdul Hai family of Latif Abad and Ghulam Nabi family of Katali villages continued for nine years.
“This enmity claimed Maulvi Abdul Hai son’s life and injured another person”, he added.
Addressing a reconciliation gathering, government officials, religious scholars and tribal elders said they would not allow such feuds to linger on and were trying to convert them into friendships.
Maulvi Abdul Hai told Pajhwok: “It is very difficult to forgive instead of revenge, but since there is good in peace, we also embraced peace”.
He thanked everyone for their efforts and said that conflicts brought no good results and all people should strive for peace.
Ghulam Nabi regretted his past actions and now he was happy that there was peace between the two families.
According to local officials, about 200 enmities have been resolved in the past three years.
