CHARIKAR (Pajhwok): A six kilometres road has been constructed and opened for service in the Salang district of central Parwan province, an official said on Saturday.

Rural Rehabilitation and Development Director Mullah Abdul Samad Sadiq said the road is six kilometers long and four meters wide and starts from Sar Takcha village of Salang district to Charikarak village.

He said the road cost $200,000 and more than 2,000 families have benefited from it.

Funded by the World Food Program (WFP) the road has 73-meter retaining wall.

This road was direly need and its construction helped address many problems of the residents, district chief Qari Sameullah Omari explained.

Maulvi Agha Baba, a tribal elder said: “Earlier, we faced multiple issues due to the non-existence of the road, we were transferred items by our own shoulders and donkeys”.

Families are displaced due to lack of facilities and now they are happy with the construction of this road, he added.
